Sunday Morning Classes
9 a.m. - Beginners Hebrew with Sylvia Goldberg
Do you want to be able to read Hebrew, follow along in the prayer book and even understand some? Then this is the class for you! Come learn the basics of the Hebrew language in a non-threatening setting.
10 a.m. - Tefillah (Prayer) for Adults with Rabbi Jeff Pivo
Learn the structure, meaning and tunes for the most important Shabbat and weekday prayers. In our winter session, we will focus on the Torah service and how the Amidah changes from its weekday form to its Shabbat and Yom Tov form. In the spring we will discuss Musaf, Hallel and home rituals.

11 a.m. - Prayers: Where Do They Come From? with Gladys Schwarz
In this class we will examine prayer as a form of poetry and as a means of expression. How are our prayers connected to the biblical text? How have poets used the Old Testament to create liturgical pieces that help us to connect to the Divine?
Wednesday Morning Classes
9:30 a.m. - American Jewish Experience with Harriet Freidenreich
Topcis will include Eastern European Emigration, The Lower East Side and Other Immigrant Neighborhoods, Religious Life & Evolution of Denominationalism, Establishing Jewish Defense Organizations, World War I and Aftermath, and The US and the Holocaust. We will meet for 12 sessions, beginning this coming Wednesday and ending the Wednesday before Pesach
10:30 a.m. - Israel and Jewish Current Events with Rabbi Jeff Pivo
Join our freewheeling discussion of issues impacting us as American Jews. Our topics are drawn daily news headlines in the U.S. and in Israel. Session will continue through the spring.
Thursday Morning Classes
7:45 p.m. - Talmud for Everyone with Rabbi Jeff Pivo
We continue our study of the first chapter of the talmudic tractate of Berakhot, including discussion of rabbinic views on angels, demons, King David’s midnight prayers, and the power of a visit to the sick. No Hebrew required, but it could never hurt. Sessions begin immediately after evening minyan and continue through the spring.
